Excerpts from Chairman Gautam Adani’s speech on 24 June 2024 - Adani Day.

My dear Adanians and Guests,

Amazing!

Singing, dancing, stand-up comedy, magic, a rapper and a beat-boxer from Dharavi, traditional drummers, performances by the four winners of our own Amazing Adanians talent hunt – I have never seen so much action packed into two hours within the Adani Corporate House.

What all of you showcase here is the spirit that defines Adani. Therefore, as I stand before you, surrounded by so many familiar faces on this special occasion, I am deeply moved with a sense of gratitude. Your passion is what I bet on to build at a scale never built before. Your passion is what I bet on to transform India’s boldest company’s vision into reality. Your passion is what I bet on to look back some day and proudly say we built India’s greatest organisation.

Seeing you here to celebrate my 62^nd birthday is a touching reminder of what it means to be trusted by a courageous extended family of 45,000 people. Without your trust and commitment, brand Adani would be just another company – not the powerhouse it is today.

As the founder of this incredible organization that you have built, I am duty-bound to live up to your expectations. This responsibility is both humbling and inspiring. Humbling because without you on my side, we would just not be here. Inspiring because with you on my side, there is so much more we can do.

And the most powerful manifestation of your belief in me was visible last year in the way all of you stood by me and backed me following the baseless accusations made by a foreign short seller that questioned our decades of hard work. In the face of an unprecedented attack on our integrity, we proved that no challenge could weaken the foundations on which our Group has been established.

We fought back against a situation where most companies would have collapsed. Our liquidity became our greatest asset. And to give the market greater confidence, we augmented our reserves by raising an additional INR 40,000 crore to cover the next two years of our debt repayment. The decisive actions we took are testimony to the great resilience of our company.

And our fight-back was such a stunning success that it is now being written up as one of the fastest and greatest comebacks in corporate history.

Our stand was further vindicated when the Supreme Court of India affirmed our actions and – thereafter – again – by the number of reputed companies and funds that chose to take this opportunity to invest in the Adani portfolio of companies. These included GQG Partners, TotalEnergies, IHC, QIA and the US Development Finance Corporation. There could not have been a better signal of confidence that we could have showcased to the world.

While I admit that there were tough days as we fought our way to clear our reputation, what kept me going was the fact that every one of you here believed in our company and believed in me. The thousands of positive messages I received from you was the biggest motivation that kept me going.

And our last financial year spoke for itself. We emerged Stronger Than Ever.

We recorded our highest ever EBITDA of INR 82,917 crore – a remarkable surge of 45%.

This exceptional performance drove our PAT up by 71% to a record high of INR 40,129 crore.

And this – in turn – resulted in an all-time-high level of liquidity. We ended the year with a record cash balance of INR 59,791 crore.

My dear Adanians,

It is said that the kite rises not with the wind but against it. What we showed to the world in the year 23-24 was the rise of the kite called the Adani Group!

Let me now switch gears. I heard a few days ago that we had decided to celebrate this year’s Adani Day without inviting any celebrities from outside. I must say I was pleased with this decision.

While celebrities might enjoy our celebrations, our celebrations don't necessarily need celebrities. For me, the real stars are all of you – my wonderful family of Adani employees.

And, of course, our special guests, Amir Hussain Lone and Anurag Maloo, who have come to personally extend their birthday wishes to me. Their presence and time are deeply appreciated. We would have loved to have had Lovely also here, but she is recovering from surgery in Lucknow.

And talking about stars, let me talk about our own stars – the ‘Amazing Adanians’. I have to admit that, in our relentless drive for success, we often forget to have fun. But today, after seeing what our Amazing Adanians have put together, I realise we should have been doing this years ago. I am delighted that so many of you and your families participated.

Full marks to Malay for his support and to Bobby and his team for being able to pull off such an exceptional talent show! After today, the term 'Amazing Adanians' will mean much more to me.

As always, I am grateful to all the Adanians and our partners who donate blood on my birthday. We hit another record of 25,282 units this year. Your selflessness is a gift beyond measure.

My dear Adanians,

Two years ago, as a gift to me on my 60^th birthday, my family members decided to contribute INR 60,000 crore towards improving healthcare, education and skill development. Today, I am proud to announce very large strides in these three areas.

We will establish state-of-the-art health cities in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi in partnership with global entities. Every year, these health cities will serve over 3 million patients and train over 1,500 doctors and 5,000 allied healthcare professionals.

We are also collaborating with Mayo Clinic, the largest integrated, not-for-profit medical group practice in the world, to elevate healthcare standards in India, focusing on complex disease care and medical innovation.

I am also pleased to announce that the Adani Foundation has entered into a joint venture with UAE-based Gems Education to set up 24 schools across 8 states in India. Over the next four years, this venture, focused on excellence in education and skill development, will serve around 50,000 students.

These nationwide projects, in healthcare, education and skill development, will have a total outlay of INR 8,000-10,000 crore.

I am also delighted to announce five new initiatives for our Adani family of employees.

The first is Saksham. This is a platform designed to empower your professional development, helping you map your career path and achieve your full potential.

The second is my response to Your Voice Matters. I have heard you – and we have restructured our rewards system so that all employees will now have a variable pay component. You will also have clear, measurable goals – and will be able to plan your way up through Career Conversations with your managers.

The third is the Human Potential Program, launching on the First of July. It is a course that focuses on your personal growth and development through neuroscience, integrated technology and psychological flexibility.

The fourth is Hum Kar Ke Dikhate Hain, a special one-hour play showcasing our transformation story, embodying the essence of Adani culture.

The fifth initiative is Your Journey Matters. It is a new travel portal designed to streamline business travel arrangements, making them smoother and more efficient.

My dear Adanians,

It is a real joy to see how we keep expanding as one large Adani Parivar. We could not be at a better point in time than we are today. Our company is at its strongest ever – and our country is at its strongest ever – and this alignment of objectives puts us in a really strong position to accelerate our journey.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams and we have some BIG dreams to fulfil together.
