In the arid heart of Gujarat's Kutch region lies the town of Bhuj, a place where the relentless sun scorches the earth and life is a constant struggle for many. Amidst this harsh landscape stands a beacon of hope and healing – Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, popularly known as GAIMS.
The first NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) accredited hospital in the region, GAIMS offers essential medical services including more than 17 clinical specialties, a Blood Bank and Blood Transfusion Services, Critical Care Units, Critical Support Services, an Oxygen Plant, state-of-the-art Diagnostic Imaging Services, and Laboratory Services with an in-house Pharmacy. With recent advancements like the state-of-the-art Modular Operation Theatre (MOT) and the newly augmented Dialysis Center, GAIMS has proven to be a Center of Healthcare Excellence.
Modern Medical Marvel
There are 14 state-of-the-art Modular Operation theatres with modern technology available to provide the best possible surgical care to patients and reduce the chances of infections. The new MOT complex was inaugurated on 25 November 2022. Since then, more than 7,400 families have benefitted from the advanced techniques and critical surgical interventions. GAIMS has separate septic OT in accordance with NABH and NMC (National Medical Commission) standards and other support services within the OT Complex, such as OT Pharmacy, scrub stations, clean utility storage and dirty utility.

No one seeking healing should endure further hardship. Moving the Dialysis Centre to the ground floor was a simple act of compassion, but it made all the difference. To provide more comfort and convenience to dialysis patients in the hospital, the dialysis department is now shifted to ground floor near the Emergency department. The unit is equipped with new dialysis machines, dialysis chairs, and wall-mounted monitors, and includes three dedicated dialysis units for seropositive patients.
Remarkably, this dialysis unit lightens the lives of more than 800 patients per month by providing them free of cost services under PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) scheme of Government. This is the only NABH approved Dialysis Center of Bhuj, Kutch district.

History
In the devasting earthquake of 2001, the GK General Hospital – the only district civil hospital building - collapsed totally and there was not a ray of hope for healthcare services, especially for needy people from faraway places of the widespread district. Atal Bihari Bajpayee, the then Prime Minister visited the affected hospital and promised the local people to rebuild the General Hospital along with the establishment of Medical College. Subsequently, it was decided to rebuild the hospital. The design of the Hospital was unique. It was built with ‘Base Isolation’ earthquake proof technology in such a way that it could absorb tremors up to Richter scale 9. The hospital became functional in 2004 without the establishment of Medical College.
Later, in 2008, the Government decided to establish Medical College and hand it over to private players on PPP model. In 2009, the Adani Group took over the only district hospital – GK General Hospital, started the only Medical College of the region and became the first PPP Model Hospital of India. Since then, GAIMS has never looked back. It is not just a medical facility; it is a sanctuary for the needy and the destitute of the Kutch region. For countless families struggling with poverty and the harsh realities of rural life, the hospital offers a lifeline with its free-of-cost services and cutting-edge medical facilities.
Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences and GK General Hospital stand as a symbol of transformation and hope in Kutch region.
