The Adani Group has proudly inaugurated its Global Capability Centre (GCC), cementing a transformative milestone in its pursuit of sustainable growth and operational excellence. Chairman Gautam Adani spearheaded the launch on 2 Sep 2024, while Karan Adani, MD of Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, boldly unveiled the strategic vision during a town hall meeting on 9 Sep. This momentous occasion solidifies the company's commitment to innovation and advancement.

The GCC is a strategic initiative that aims to optimise operations and enhance global capabilities by focusing on three core pillars: efficiency, innovation, and business excellence. Mr Karan stated “This initiative is about strengthening our internal capabilities. There will be no loss of jobs; instead, we will invest in our people, creating new roles and opportunities.”

Global Capability Centres are poised to be centres of innovation and transformation, emphasising enhanced efficiencies, effectiveness, and stakeholder experience through new-age technology. At Adani, this initiative acknowledges that business growth and process optimisation are interconnected. The need of the hour is to create a finely tuned, efficient engine that integrates decision-enabling analytics through digital tools, freeing up core teams to focus on strategic initiatives and growth.

To enable this transformation, support functions such as HR, Finance, IT, Techno-Commercial Contracts Management, and Procurement have been identified as key areas for integration.

The GCC will be implemented in phases over the next 1-2 years, gradually integrating around 2,500 employees to ensure a smooth transition and address any challenges that may arise along the way. The introduction of the GCC will bring significant changes to usual operations in various departments and functions, involving:

• Career Development: The GCC will enhance collaboration across teams and adopt new technologies and practices. It offers a range of learning and development programs tailored to individual needs, from technical training to leadership development. This initiative aims to develop a talent factory by becoming a training ground to nurture future leaders and equip them with the diverse skills needed to manage a GCC.
