From Highways To Harbours
Behind every road and port that fuels India, RMRW and OSL are making seamless progress possible.
Poonam Advani
While Adani Group’s flagship businesses often take centre stage, many subsidiaries quietly drive its success through innovation, resilience and sustainability. Entities under Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and Adani Enterprises (AEL) such as, Ocean Sparkle (OSL) and Adani Road, Metro, Rail and Water (RMRW) — exemplify operational excellence and strategic foresight in strengthening India’s infrastructure and maritime capabilities. Together, these organisations embody the Group’s vision of nation-building and sustainable growth. As a-connect explores the Adani ecosystem, future editions will spotlight more such dynamic contributors shaping India’s progress.
Adani RMRW- AEL Subsidiary
Building the Future of India’s Infrastructure
Across India’s rapidly developing landscape, one name stands out for its vision to connect communities and conserve resources — Adani Road, Metro, Rail and Water (RMRW). As a progressive arm of Adani Enterprises, RMRW is shaping sustainable pathways for mobility and water management, driving India’s next chapter of infrastructure growth.
The story of RMRW began in 2018, with a clear mission — to deliver world-class infrastructure solutions that would not only link cities and regions but also create a lasting positive impact on the environment. Under its umbrella, two key entities operate: Adani Road Transport (ARTL) and Adani Water (AWL), both united by a shared commitment to efficiency, innovation and sustainability.
Adani Road Transport was incorporated on 16 Mar 2018, followed by Adani Water on 21 Dec 2018, marking Adani’s strategic foray into two of India’s most critical infrastructure domains — transportation and water. Together, they represent a strong vision of progress where development meets responsibility.
At its core, RMRW builds roads that connect people and systems that preserve water. From express highways that reduce travel time to advanced wastewater treatment plants that restore and reuse vital resources, RMRW’s work is about creating networks that empower both the economy and the environment. Every project under its portfolio reflects precision, purpose and long-term value creation.
Over the years, RMRW has built an impressive footprint across India, having delivered 14 major road projects spanning over 5,000 lane kilometres across 10 states. These projects are executed through a combination of Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), and Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT) models — demonstrating RMRW’s ability to manage complex infrastructure with efficiency and expertise.
In the water segment, RMRW has made equal strides. It operates facilities with a treatment capacity exceeding 400 million litres per day (MLD), runs a 33 MLD desalination plant in Mundra, and manages an irrigation project with a storage capacity of 445 million cubic metres. Each of these initiatives strengthens India’s sustainable water infrastructure while ensuring that communities have access to clean, reliable resources.
Sustainability lies at the heart of RMRW’s approach. Through resource conservation, energy efficiency and circular construction practices such as cold in-place recycling, the company has successfully reduced waste, minimised greenhouse gas emissions and extended the lifespan of its road assets. For RMRW, excellence is not just an outcome — it is a mindset that guides every stage of planning, execution and delivery.
With its strong foundation in quality, innovation and sustainability, RMRW continues to build the backbone of India’s modern infrastructure — connecting cities, empowering communities and ensuring that progress flows hand in hand with environmental care.
From expressways that bring people closer to wastewater systems that renew life’s most essential resource, RMRW’s journey is not just about building infrastructure — it’s about building the future.
Our broader commitment is to build resilient infrastructure that fuels economic growth while protecting natural resources. We aim to create assets that benefit generations, ensuring development is balanced with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.”

Ocean Sparkle Limited- APSEZ subsidiary
Powering India’s Maritime Excellence
In the vast expanse of India’s coastline, where ships sail in and out carrying the pulse of global trade, one name has quietly powered these operations for nearly three decades — Ocean Sparkle (OSL). A wholly owned subsidiary of Shanti Sagar International Dredging (SSIDL), OSL stands as a vital pillar in India’s maritime infrastructure, ensuring that ports operate with seamless efficiency and reliability every single day.
Founded on 26 Jul 1995, OSL began its journey with a vision to provide reliable marine support services across India’s major ports. What started with a handful of tugs, pilot boats and mooring boats soon evolved into a full-fledged marine services enterprise. Over the years, OSL expanded its capabilities beyond basic port support to offer pilotage, mooring and radio room operations, growing alongside India’s maritime ambitions.
Today, OSL’s presence stretches across Major and Minor Ports, LNG terminals and FPSO facilities, serving both third-party clients and Adani’s captive ports. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that vessels are safely navigated, docked and serviced — enabling ports to function efficiently and trade to flow smoothly. In simple terms, OSL is the silent force that keeps India’s maritime arteries running.
Guiding this journey of growth and transformation are Hiren Shah, Chief Executive Officer of SSIDL & OSL, and Shri Sanjay M. Kewalramani, Chief Operating Officer of OSL & SSIDL (Harbour Services). Their vision has strengthened OSL’s position as a trusted partner in India’s maritime sector and a name synonymous with operational excellence.
Our harbour business brings together decades of expertise through OSL & SSIDL. This collaboration enables us to deliver comprehensive marine solutions that support the nation's Port and strengthen India's maritime competitiveness.”
Hiren Shah
Chief Executive Officer of SSIDL & OSL

As of 2025, OSL operates a fleet of 74 tugs and one Offshore Supply Vessel, offering services that span the entire Indian coastline. The company’s reach now extends beyond national waters through a joint venture operating three tugs at Duqm Port in Oman, marking OSL’s growing international presence. In parallel, SSIDL’s Harbour Services division, with over 25 years of experience, owns and operates 38 tugs across APSEZ’s captive port network, together reinforcing the group’s leadership in India’s marine ecosystem.
OSL’s journey has been marked by continuous innovation and a strong commitment to quality. It has embraced digital transformation, replacing traditional logs and manual entries with digital tools that enhance transparency and operational efficiency. In a significant stride towards self-reliance, the company has also placed orders for twelve new vessels at Indian shipyards, aligning with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Deliveries of these new vessels are expected to begin by Nov 2025, further expanding its capacity and capability.
With an estimated 75% share in India’s outsourced harbour to wage long-term contract services, OSL has established itself as a market leader, a testament to its reliability, professionalism, and technical expertise. The company’s pursuit of global standards is evident in its certifications from LRQA, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISMS 27001:2022 and OHSAS 45001:2018, reflecting its adherence to international benchmarks for quality, safety and environmental stewardship.
