In a significant stride forward, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad has earned the coveted Level 4 Airport Customer Experience accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI)—a remarkable leap from its Level 3 status achieved just a year ago in May 2024.
This prestigious recognition positions SVPI Airport among an elite league of global airports, and just the third in India to attain such distinction. It is a powerful affirmation of the airport’s ongoing commitment to delivering a world-class experience across every passenger touchpoint—from arrival to take-off.
Redefining the Passenger Experience
The ACI Level 4 accreditation assesses airports across a wide range of parameters, including customer understanding, strategic planning, governance, operational improvement and cultural alignment. For SVPI Airport, this achievement is the culmination of a year-long transformation marked by innovation, infrastructure expansion and a passenger-first mindset.
Over the past year, SVPI has implemented a suite of forward-thinking initiatives that reflect a modern airport vision—high-tech, high-touch and deeply rooted in service excellence.
Technology That Touches Lives
Tech-enabled enhancements have been central to SVPI’s evolution:
- Aviio App and SOP Digitalisation have streamlined airport operations.
- The rollout of Digi Yatra and Self-Baggage Drop at both terminals (T1 and T2) has significantly improved check-in efficiency.
- Baggage handling capabilities surged from 600 to 1,600 bags per hour thanks to the introduction of a baggage rejection line.
- 24 Smart Cleaning Robots are now maintaining hygiene across terminals, while AI-based surveillance ensures safety and project oversight.
- The recently launched Adani One App has unified digital services for a seamless passenger journey.
- Fast Track Immigration through the Trusted Travellers’ Programme, free Wi-Fi kiosks, Flight Information Displays, and curated background music now enhance the overall travel ambience.
Bringing Comfort, Culture and Convenience Together
Infrastructure and passenger experience upgrades have also played a key role:
-
Two EV buses now offer free inter-terminal shuttle services, supporting eco-friendly transport.
-
New amenities include Hawaii Adda (a unique dining concept), a smoking room, a multifaith prayer room, and themed artworks celebrating Gujarat’s rich heritage.
-
Check-in counters expanded: T1 from 23 to 39, T2 from 32 to 56.
-
Boarding gates increased: T1 from 8 to 12, T2 from 9 to 12.
-
Over 22 new retail and F&B outlets launched in the T2 forecourt.
-
Thoughtful additions like live cricket telecasts, baby-care facilities, and 970+ intuitive signages have helped lift the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) score from 4.72 to 4.93.
The airport has also expanded parking capacity, improving the two-wheeler area from 450 to 700 spaces and four-wheeler capacity from 790 to 1,370—now with better lighting, surveillance and smart access systems.
Recognition on Multiple Fronts
SVPI Airport’s efforts have not gone unnoticed:
-
ISO Certifications: ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
-
Became the first Indian airport to receive the 5S workplace certification from the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI).
-
Secured nine awards at QCFI 2024, alongside three top honours at the 25th Indian National Suggestion Scheme Association (INSSAN) event.
A Gateway to the Future
SVPI Airport’s Level 4 accreditation is more than a milestone—it is a testament to a culture rooted in excellence, innovation and empathy. By placing passengers at the centre of every initiative, the airport has reimagined what it means to travel through a modern Indian gateway.
As Ahmedabad continues to grow as a global destination, SVPI Airport stands tall as a symbol of the city’s aspirations—connected, customer-centric and continually raising the bar in Indian aviation.
