A Nation Powered Bright

Adani Solar has shipped over 15,000 MW of solar modules, advancing India’s clean energy drive and strengthening the Make in India initiative.

India is steadily progressing to become energy independent by 2047 by focusing on clean sources like solar and wind power. This push for clean energy is important for the country’s economic growth, national security and the goal of net-zero emissions by 2070. To succeed, India needs to quickly grow its use and production of renewable energy and reduce its reliance on imports.

Adani Solar, India’s leading solar modules maker, has reached a big milestone by shipping over 15,000 megawatts (MW) of solar modules both in India and around the world. This achievement makes Adani Solar the first and fastest Indian company to reach this level.

Impact of Adani Solar’s 15,000 MW module shipments

  • Over 5 million homes powered with affordable solar energy
  • More than 2,500 green jobs created
  • 60 million tons of CO₂ emissions avoided each year
  • Translates to over 65,000 kilometres of solar modules—enough to wrap around the Earth’s equator 1.5 times

Out of the 15,000 MW shipped, 10,000 MW were used in India and 5,000 MW were sent to other countries. The shipments, equivalent to 28 million solar modules, enough to cover 7,500 football fields—reflect India’s growing manufacturing strength and Adani Solar’s global competitiveness. About 70% of these modules were made with solar cells produced by Adani in India, which shows the scale of the company supporting local manufacturing.

The company aims to ship another 15,000 MW of modules in the next couple of years and plans to more than double its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW by the next financial year. Adani Solar is also recognised as the only Indian company among the world’s top 10 solar modules manufacturers by Wood Mackenzie.

Adani Solar has the largest retail network for solar modules in India, reaching more than 550 districts through over 35 exclusive channel partners. This wide reach has helped in increasing access to made-in-India and high-quality solar modules across the country.

Adani Solar is playing a key role in realisation of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision by making more solar modules and its components in India.

It is the only Indian company that has end-to-end capabilities to manufacturer from raw materials to finished solar modules and the parts that go into them. From ingots and wafers to cells, modules and ancillary materials such as solar glass, aluminium frame, EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) backsheet among others.

The company plans to increase its manufacturing capacity from 4,000 MW to 10,000 MW soon, supporting India’s vision of becoming self-reliant in energy.

An Adani Solar spokesperson said, “This achievement shows our strong commitment to India’s energy independence and our belief in the future of clean energy.”

India’s ability to make solar modules has grown at a rapid scale—from just 2.3 GW in 2014 to over 100 GW in 2025. The number of companies making solar moduless has also increased from 21 in 2021 to 100 now, showing rapid growth in this field.

Thanks to these efforts, India is becoming a major player in solar module manufacturing catering both to the domestic market and exporting more modules each year. In the first part of financial year 2026, exports grew by over 20% to USD 668 million compared to the previous year, with the United States, UAE, Kenya, Hungary and Iran as key buyers.

Helping the Adoption of Rooftop Solar

Adani Solar is also leading the way in helping homes, businesses and farmers use solar power. Through its large retail network, the company has supplied 1.78 GW of made-in-India solar modules, enough for rooftop solar systems on over 594,000 homes in the last year, helping India move toward its goal of 280 GW of solar energy by 2030.

The company leads the rooftop solar market, supplying about 54 per cent of modules for the Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme India aims to bring solar power to 10 million households by 2027 and Adani Solar is making a major contribution.

Supporting India’s Clean Energy Goals

India has already surpassed its Paris Agreement target to use more clean energy, with over half of its installed electricity capacity coming from non-fossil sources—five years ahead of schedule. It is well on track to achieve the goal of 500 GW by 2030. Solar power has played a big role in this progress, with the country adding 25 GW of renewable energy in FY25, with solar accounting for nearly 21 GW. Adani has been at the forefront of the clean energy transition both, from solar generation perspective and making India the global solar manufacturing hub.

At the recent, pre-CoP30 roundtable in Brazil, India reiterated that the country’s initiatives from the International Solar Alliance and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure to the International Big Cat Alliance embodies the spirit of cooperative and action-oriented multilateralism. India emphasised the need to reaffirm faith in multilateralism, equity and collective resolve to deliver real, measurable action for people and the planet.
