s the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) prepares for its fourth season from 2 Dec, Adani Sportsline’s Gulf Giants are entering a fresh chapter—one defined by renewed ambition, strategic reinvention and a winning mindset.

The franchise that lifted the inaugural ILT20 trophy in 2023 is back with a recalibrated core, a world-class coaching group and a laser focus on performance excellence.

At the helm is Jonathan Trott, England’s former opener and one of cricket’s most astute minds. Trott’s recent success with Afghanistan—steering them to the T20 World Cup semi-finals and a breakthrough ODI World Cup campaign in 2024 and 2023, respectively, underscores his ability to blend tactical depth with player empowerment.

Supporting him is an elite backroom staff: New Zealand’s Shane Bond will mentor the bowlers, South Africa’s Andrew Puttick takes charge of the batting unit, Jamie Troughton brings his expertise to fielding and Nick Lee will oversee strength and conditioning. Together, they reflect Adani Sportsline’s data-driven yet player-first approach to sporting excellence.

Season 4 also marks a landmark moment with ILT20’s first-ever player auction. For the Gulf Giants, it was an opportunity to blend continuity with calculated change. English all-rounder Liam Dawson emerged as a marquee pick at USD 170,000, adding balance to the lineup. The team further deepened its talent pool with Tabraiz Shamsi, Fred Klaassen, Chris Wood and Tom Moores.

Key retention, including captain James Vince, Aayan Afzal Khan, Blessing Muzarabani, Gerhard Erasmus and Mark Adair, ensure the franchise retains its competitive core. The pre-auction additions of Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai reinforce both leadership and all-round capability.

As ILT20 Season 4 kicks off on the 54th UAE National Day, 2 Dec, the Gulf Giants will open their campaign against MI Emirates two days later at the Dubai International Stadium.
