As the Adani Foundation celebrates 30 years of nation-building and community transformation, the journey of Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) stands as a powerful testament to its enduring commitment to education, healthcare and societal development.
A Vision Takes Shape
Established in 2009 under the aegis of the Adani Education & Research Foundation, GAIMS was founded with a clear vision: to make quality medical education and advanced healthcare accessible to the people of Kutch and the surrounding regions.
Inspired by the visionary leadership of Dr Priti Adani, the institution has evolved from a pioneering initiative into one of Western India’s respected centres of medical education, patient care, research and innovation.
Creating Healers for Tomorrow
Over the past 17 years, GAIMS has made a significant contribution to India’s healthcare workforce. The institution has nurtured more than 1,800 MBBS graduates and over 240 postgraduate specialists, many of whom continue to remain connected through the robust GAIMS alumni network, the Alumni Association of GAIMS (AAG).
Today, more than 750 MBBS students and 250 MD/MS scholars are pursuing their academic journeys at the campus.
Through a learner-centric approach, innovative teaching methodologies, hands-on clinical exposure, expert lectures, conferences and workshops, GAIMS continues to prepare competent, compassionate and socially responsible healthcare professionals.
A key strength of the institution is its close association with a high-volume district hospital. This gives students exposure to a wide range of clinical cases and extensive patient interaction, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world medical practice.
The result is an experiential learning environment that prepares graduates to respond with confidence and empathy to the evolving needs of modern healthcare.

GAIMS’ growth has been matched by the steady expansion of its infrastructure. The campus today features smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, a state-of-the-art Simulation Skills Lab (SUYOG), a well-equipped library and an 800-seat auditorium.
Hostels, faculty residences, recreational facilities and a modern gymnasium further contribute to a holistic campus ecosystem—one that supports academic excellence while nurturing the personal growth and well-being of its students and faculty.
A Smart Campus for Smarter Healthcare
Technology has become an integral part of the GAIMS experience.
Digital learning platforms, online assessment systems, Human Resource Information Systems and Patient Information Systems have enhanced both educational delivery and operational efficiency. A technologically advanced audio-visual dissection hall further strengthens the institution’s use of technology in medical education.
With more than 450 CCTV cameras supporting a robust security framework, the campus is also designed to provide a safe, connected and technologically enabled environment.
Advancing Knowledge, Advancing Research
Research and innovation have steadily emerged as defining pillars of GAIMS.
Over the past three years, research articles published by faculty members have received more than 19,000 citations, reflecting the growing reach and relevance of the institution’s academic work. Student-led research projects have further strengthened a culture of scientific inquiry and evidence-based learning.
More than 350 postgraduate theses have been completed, while scholars from across the country have contributed over 200 research publications to the National Medical Commission-approved indexed GAIMS Journal of Medical Sciences (GJMS).
Together, these achievements reflect an institution that is not only educating healthcare professionals, but also contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.

For intern doctor Vishvarajsinh Solanki, an MBBS student from the 2021 batch, these experiences have been an important part of his journey.

Serving pilgrims during the Mata na Madh Padyatra and tying Rakhi to BSF personnel at the border made us understand the true meaning of service, sacrifice and community.
