Adani Group commits over INR 1 lakh crore by 2035, with healthcare, infrastructure and heritage at the heart of its Bengal vision.
Bengal is poised to become a major new growth platform for the Adani Group, with the Group announcing plans to invest over INR 1 lakh crore in the state by 2035 across ports, logistics, power, roads, green cement and hyperscale data centres.
Unveiling the vision in Kolkata on 24 September, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the commitment reflected the state’s unique geography, talent and economic potential, and the Group’s ambition to build a deeper, long-term partnership with Bengal.
“Great moments of possibility demand great responsibility,” Mr Adani said, describing Bengal as a state at an important moment in its journey.
The announcement was anchored by the Adani Arogya Mandir, a planned world-class, mega medical institution representing an investment of over INR 4,000 crore. The 2,000-bed facility will include 1,000 beds for economically weaker sections eligible under State and Central health insurance schemes. A medical college, advanced research facilities and specialised healthcare services will form the core of the institution.

Expected to create more than 10,000 jobs across Bengal’s healthcare ecosystem, the Arogya Mandir is envisioned not merely as a hospital, but as an institution that strengthens healthcare access while building a skilled medical workforce for the state.
For Mr Adani, however, Bengal’s opportunity extends far beyond healthcare.
“Bengal is the natural maritime and logistics bridge connecting India’s vast industrial heartland and the Northeast with the Bay of Bengal,” he said, pointing to the state’s strategic position on trade routes connecting India with Southeast Asia and beyond.
His vision is built on an interconnected ecosystem where infrastructure creates the conditions for wider economic growth. “Ports strengthen logistics. Logistics attracts industry. Industries drive manufacturing. Manufacturing needs energy. Energy enables digital infrastructure, and digital infrastructure brings in the industries of the future,” he said. “And, most importantly, jobs multiply.”

The proposed investment by the Group will span ports, logistics, power generation, transmission and distribution, roads, bridges and ropeways, green cement and hyperscale data centres.

Yet, Mr Adani’s vision for Bengal extends beyond physical infrastructure. The Group will also support the restoration of the historic Writers’ Building, the revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat and initiatives that take Kolkata’s celebrated Durga Puja traditions to a global audience.
For the Group, the ambition carries a deeper resonance. Mundra in Gujarat was its first karmabhoomi in the West. Mr Adani now hopes Bengal will become its second karmabhoomi in the East.
“Bengal is not simply an investment destination. It is a place where I want to build, to serve and most importantly, to belong,” he said.
And with that, a new chapter begins — one where investment seeks to build not just infrastructure, but opportunity, institutions and a lasting connection with the land.
